Hans works extensively in patents, trademarks, copyright, designs and trade secrets. He has particular experience in telecommunications, semiconductors, electronic devices, power tools, biotechnology, anti-counterfeiting technology and software.
Before joining FitzGerald Lawyers, Hans was a partner in the intellectual property practices at Nixon Peabody CWL and ONC Lawyers, and a member of the patent teams at Bird & Bird and Deacons Hong Kong. Hans gained extensive experience at Deacons, where he worked for about 15 years.
Hans has been acknowledged as an Asia IP Expert by Asia IP, among the world's leading patent professionals by IAM Patent 1000 and as an IP Star by Managing IP. He's also been a finalist for the International Law Office Client Choice Awards in IP-Patents.
Hans is a chartered patent attorney (UK) and admitted as a lawyer in Hong Kong.
Hans graduated with a bachelor degree in engineering and masters in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Melbourne. He went on to qualify for the certificate in intellectual property law at Queen Mary College and a masters in intellectual property litigation at Nottingham Law School.
Hans speaks Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
